Pressure test tanks
All fuel tanks attached to the cargo holds where class 5.1 will be loaded, need to be tested on tightness. For this, af first inspection is made which tanks, their ventilation, overflow lines and sounding pipes are involved. When it is known where the tanks and their connection are, a plan is made how to isolate the nemed tanks and how to make a connection for filling and measurement purpose.
A small overpressure is build up in de tank and by means of a water column the pressure is monitored for some time to see if there is any leakage. A visual check is done in the cargo fold for the tanks tightness. If the tightness has been accepted, the pressure is released and a test report is written out.
